The project utilizes waste material from the food industry.

Pigs are farmed and slaughtered on a large scale in Iceland. One pig provides 15–25 meters of guts that can be doubled in length with this process method. The material is best known for its use as casings for sausages. The industry is somewhat inhumane and it seems reasonable to assume that it will not last in its current form in the future. Until then we will try to find ways to maximize the use of its material.

I created a process to manufacture string out of the gastrointestinal wall combining traditional and new methods of string making. The outcome is a raw material that is biodegradable and extremely tough.
